Earthquake and its causes

10:17:00

A fireman in the rubble after the Christchurch earthquake.

Like a rapture, people running halter shelter, land vibrating, houses are sinking in between the earth crust, great disaster and havoc to befall mankind and livestock  hustling to survive and underground to hide and stay alive. According to Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary which says that earthquake is a sudden violent movement of the earth's surface.

However, earthquake is what happen when two blocks of earth suddenly slip past each other  the surface were they slip is called fault plane and the location below the earth's surface where the earthquake started is called hypo-center and the location directly above the earth surface is called epicenter.

Geographers opted out the cause of an earthquake in a sequencial aspecct. An earthquake is caused by a sudden slip on a fualt. the tectinic plates are always slowly moving, but they get stuck at their edges due to friction.
That is when the stress on the edge overcomes the friction, there is an earthquake that release energy in waves that travel through the earth's crust and cause the vibration that we feel during earthquake.
also volcanic eruption, rockfalls, landslides, bomb explosion and erosion can cause earthquake but these are under local extent.
Even shock waves and land shacking can cause a small quake in a near by town or city.

Moreover scientist can not predict earthquake but they believe that it will still happen again in the future

Nigerian Political Dynamism

13:22:00

The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; the second is war. Both bring a temporary prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunists.(Ernest Hemingway)

Political instability is a situation where by a country is currently going through political turmoil or unrest within a certain country. it may be also involve chaos and crisis of people within that country over political malfunction. political instability hinders the economic growth of a country.

However, instability is a process of a situation in which things a likely to change suddenly. since Nigeria got her independence we can understand that Nigerian system of government and its economic welfare had been in a dynamic states. this usually happen when new political party resumes office in  the government, there is likely a physical change in the country system of government. Nigerian political system has been hindered by corruption, economic deflation, the conflict in Niger delta because of the use of oil revenue, ethnic reveries, religious dispute, kidnapping of foreign oil workers, 419 scams, all of these factors fabricate the economic growth and development of the country.

furthermore, there is no smoke without fire. Nigerian political instability might be cause by large gap between the wealth of the upper class and the low income earners, it can also be cause by poverty and bad government and also lack of quality education.

in other to opt out political crimes in Nigeria, government should endeavour to stop kidnapping , insecurity. they should also look into educational system of the country and enhance it with adequate  technological development to avoid irritrency and corruption.

all hands must be on deck to make Nigeria a home with good standard of living if we help the government and I believe they will help us because nobody is perfect.

Quality Education

12:36:00

Man acquires knowledge or development through the ability to perform new behaviours. It is common to think of learning as something that take place in school, but much of learning occurs outside the classroom, and people continue to learn throughout their lives.

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world (Nelson Mandela)
Educational system of formal teaching and learning is conducted through schools and other institutions. Levels of education in modern societies can go from preschool to colleges and University.

Quality Education is a system of learning that produce well-educated individuals who can handle matters of concern within their area of study proficiently. The system must have a moral ethics in the individuals.

Education has its standard and level which an individual must reach to obtain a quality education. Education is not just be going to school and come out with good grades, but to grab the knowledge of going to school and experimenting it in your daily lives which can be able to help you to defend your certificates that you went to school.

Moreover, education has alot of benefit in our society and also in our lives, which in excess has helped man to acquire a reputable knowledge and incorporation with the physical environment around us . This is so because  man interact with what is basically around us and therefore inquire new ideas from them.

Also education is a reflection of a good civilization. which help on human innovation.

Education also help man to be a good citizens and spread awareness in our society to help echother.

Human brain are appreciated across the globe for their intellect and it has been in our blood and only education can magnify it

In a situation whereby we have an uneducated politician ruling our government selfishly and in our society education should be incurred in our minds sp that the his administrator will not jeopardize our future.

In other to implement an ethical values in the youth's mind, government should introduce education freely among us.

In other words, a man without a quality education will believe that he has been treated abnormally among its society. Knowledge is power and what will happen if you didn't get the knowledge you are looking for? Unable to get paid job is lack of quality education. Without good education man has to look down on if he wants to get what he wants .

However, many parents are concerned with the quality education of their children in Nigeria as a whole.
Quality education can be ascertain through the help of government to introduce educational facilities in different schools. This can be done through the several ways;

  • building of school up to medium standard
  • introducing ICT educational training in schools
  • having a good qualified teachers
  • parents should also be concerned about their child's educational purpose.
  • there must be a mutual understanding between the teachers and the students so that student will not be afraid in asking question in lecture hall and also can be able to challenge them educatedly.
  • team work among students should be observed for better understanding in a particular course.
  • the school management should also improve the faculty and departmental policies.

Furthermore, the major problem facing education in Nigeria is the government dispute between ASUU and ASUP ( Association Union of Universities and Association Union of Polytechnics respectively), which is burning the heart of students under these host. Also another problem facing Nigeria education system is corruption from the administrative brand and helping a student to pass exam with a token is now a the features of our lecturers.

Finally, government should not take the futures of Nigerian students for granted for they are the leaders of tomorrow , if and only if the government will make up to them, education should be bond in our lives so we will know that educations not preparation for life; education is life itself( John Dewery)

Unemployment Colloquium

16:43:00

An economic condition marked by the first individual actively seeking jobs remain unhired. Unemployment is expressed as a percentage of the total available work force. The level of unemployment varies with economic conditions and other circumstances.

Rising unemployment and the recession have been the price that we've had to pay to get inflation down: that is a price well worth paying.( Norman Lamont (1942 - ))Varsity of crimes enrol in our society, individual idleness devoted in evil manipulation, economic meltdown and lack of industrial manpower , which are also cause recession on economic programs.

However, according to Business Dictionary, unemployment is the total number of able men and women of working age seeking paid work. Unemployment in Nigeria is one of the most critical problems the country is facing. The years of corruption, civil war, military rule and mismanagement have cause economic down-slope of the country. Even though the country was blessed with enough human and resource material.

Furthermore, unemployment occur when people are without work and actively seeking for job. The unemployment rate can be defined as the number of people actively looking for job divided by the labour force. Changes in unemployment depend mostly on inflows made up of non-employees people starting to look for jobs, of employed who lose and look for new ones and people who stop looking for jobs. As per the report of World Bank, GDP at purchasing power of Nigeria was $170.7 billion during 2005.

Unemployment in Nigeria is a major problem both economically and social. In Nigeria has resulted in more and more people who do not have purchasing power. Less consumption has led to lower production and economic growth has been hampered. It increases the crime rate. The secondary school graduate consist of the principal fraction of unemployment accounting for nearly 35% to 50%. The rate of unemployment within the age group of 20 to 24 years is 4 % and between 15 to 19 is 31%. Unemployment rate in Nigeria increased to 23.90% in 2011 from 21.10% in 2010. This was reported by the national bureau of statistics.

Also causes of unemployment in Nigeria cannot be over emphasis. Unemployment is caused when someone is laid off, fired or quits his or her job and start looking for new one.

Similarly, it can be caused by the use of computers, machines or robots in an industries which therefore replace human efforts. And listed below can still cause unemployment in our country;
·         Rapid changes in technology
·         Recessions
·         Disability
·         Employees values
·         Attitudes towards employees
·         Discrimination. Etc.

Moreover, unemployment in Nigeria can be cubed if federal and state government listen to the masses who seek for jobs that they are qualified to do. And also the type of graduates from our universities is nothing to write home about, what a situation where an accounting graduates cannot plot single column cash book or a teacher who cannot make a lesson note for his students, the government should check the grass root of education and fix it the way it should be for effective learning.

Finally, government to should provide enough job opportunities to the youth who are capable or work and encourage institution of learning of entrepreneurship in our schools and colleges so that an individual can be self-employed if there is no place of work for him.

The country needs and, unless I mistake its temper, the country demands bold, persistent experimentation. It is common sense to take a method and try it; if it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something. (Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882 - 1945))

Human Brain

14:03:00

The human brain
Human brain does a lot in our livelihood, which can help us to create, initiate, and maintain sensitivity.
Although mankind has accumulate a lot pleasure from initiative and thinking and also mind reasoning. If a situation an individual wasn't able to make use of his brain well the person is said to be mad. The human brain is very important because it’s know how clever an individual is.

Furthermore, according to Oxford Advance Learner Dictionary which defined Brain as the organ of the body inside the head that control thought, memory and feelings. It can also be said to be an organ of soft nervous tissues contained in the skull of the vertebrate, functioning as the coordinating centre of sensation and intellectual and nervous activity.

Every animal you can think of; mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, amphibians, has a brain. But human brain is the unique. Although it is not the largest, it gives us the power to speak, imagine, and solve our problems. It’s an amazing organ.

Also the different between human brain and mind cannot be over emphasised. The brain is tangible. It is the leader of the nervous system in human and animals alike and is an actual physical organ. While the mind in intangible. It is capable of conscious thought and of controlling the brain. According to Deepak Chopra who proposed that “you need to look to the mind instead of the brain when it comes to treating depression”.

     However, human brain performs some functions in human body like;
v It controls body temperature, blood pressure, heart rate and breathing.
v It accepts a flood of information about the world around you from your nervous sensory organs
v It handles your physical movement when walking , talking , standing and sitting
v It lets you think, dream, reason and experience emotions.

All these task are coordinated, controlled by the brain.
Nevertheless, human brain can be taken care of in a one intense way;  every time you hit your head you lose 50 brain cells and every time someone punches you , you lose 500, so my advice is that you should avoid been hitting your head or being punched.

The brain is the most amazing complex organ of the human body. It sends and receive signals and nearly 5000 billion helper cells that support the activity and survival of neurons. These cells allow us to calculate our changes at the store and remember the name or our teachers.

First information is acquire from our senses (like seeing and touching a cup). This information is then sent to a region of our brain that puts together all of the stimuli in the environment (such as the colour and temperature of the cup). This region then sends the information to other regions for more process and finally it is stored as a memory.

Finally , some necessary facts discovered by scientist about the brain. A study from Columbia University found that people have been relying more on the internet, less on their brains. That means your brain is going to forget more things overtime.

Also the human brain doesn't feel pains that’s why surgeons perform brain surgery on a patient why they are still awake.
Sorry ladies men’s brains are 10 times bigger

Why do we laugh ? we don’t know that true laughter comes involuntary that’s why the milky comes gushing out our nose.
And finally your brain is more active when you sleep

ZEUS THE GREEK GOD

22:06:00
Zeus, in Greek mythology, the god of the sky and ruler of the Olympian gods. Zeus corresponds to the Roman god Jupiter.

Zeus was considered, according to Homer, the father of the gods and of mortals. He did not create either gods or mortals; he was their father in the sense of being the protector and ruler both of the Olympian family and of the human race. He was lord of the sky, the rain god, and the cloud gatherer, who wielded the terrible thunderbolt. His breastplate was the aegis, his bird the eagle, his tree the oak. Zeus presided over the gods on Mount Olympus in Thessaly (Thessalia). His principal shrines were at Dodona, in Epirus, the land of the oak trees and the most ancient shrine, famous for its oracle, and at Olympia, where the Olympic Games were celebrated in his honor every fourth year. The Nemean games, held at Nemea, northwest of Árgos, were also dedicated to Zeus.
Zeus was the youngest son of the Titans Cronus and Rhea and the brother of the deities Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Demeter, and Hera. According to one of the ancient myths of the birth of Zeus, Cronus, fearing that he might be dethroned by one of his children, swallowed them as they were born. Upon the birth of Zeus, Rhea wrapped a stone in swaddling clothes for Cronus to swallow and concealed the infant god in Crete (Kríti), where he was fed on the milk of the goat Amalthaea and reared by nymphs. When Zeus grew to maturity, he forced Cronus to disgorge the other children, who were eager to take vengeance on their father. In the war that followed, the Titans fought on the side of Cronus, but Zeus and the other gods were successful, and the Titans were consigned to the abyss of Tartarus. Zeus henceforth ruled over the sky, and his brothers Poseidon and Hades were given power over the sea and the underworld, respectively. The earth was to be ruled in common by all three.
Beginning with the writings of the Greek poet Homer, Zeus is pictured in two very different ways. He is represented as the god of justice and mercy, the protector of the weak, and the punisher of the wicked. As husband to his sister Hera, he is the father of Ares, the god of war; Hebe, the goddess of youth; Hephaestus, the god of fire; and Eileithyia, the goddess of childbirth. At the same time, Zeus is described as falling in love with one woman after another and resorting to all kinds of tricks to hide his infidelity from his wife. Stories of his escapades were numerous in ancient mythology, and many of his offspring were a result of his love affairs with both goddesses and mortal women. It is believed that, with the development of a sense of ethics in Greek life, the idea of a lecherous, sometimes ridiculous father god became distasteful, so later legends tended to present Zeus in a more exalted light. His many affairs with mortals are sometimes explained as the wish of the early Greeks to trace their lineage to the father of the gods.
Zeus's image was represented in sculptural works as a kingly, bearded figure. The most celebrated of all statues of Zeus was Phidias's gold and ivory colossus at Olympia.

ICT

21:55:00
Today, we are in a global village that everything is been done in e-world; online registration , online job vacancy, online communications etc.
Technology significantly affect human ass well as other animal species ability to control and adapt to their national environments. Information and communication technology usually abbreviated as ICT is often used as an extended synonym for information technology (IT), but is usually a more general term that stresses the role of unified communication and integration of telecommunication (telephone lines and wireless signals) ,computers as well as necessary enterprise software, middleware, storage, and audio-visual system, which enable user to create, access, store, transmit, and manipulate information. In other words, ICT consist of IT as well as telecommunication broadcast media, all types of audio and video processing and transmission and network based control and monitoring functions. The term ICT is now also used to refer to the merging (convergence) of audio-visual and telephone network with computer networks though a single cabling or link system . There are large economic incentives (huge cost saving due to elimination of the telephone network ) to merge the audio-visual , building management and telephone network with the computer network system using a single lifted system of cabling, signal distribution and management . This in turn has spurred the growth of organization with the term ICT in their names to indicate their specialization in the process of merging the different network systems. However , the world is evolving with a computerized machinery. Anyone can contact with any person from any area of the world easily. The is possible because of the interconnection between individual computers, mobile , routers , laptops etc . technically, the hosts. This network provides the sharing of information by means of website , e-mails , and instant messenger , and any other devices . This is because of ICT . According to Aguboshim(2012:261) , ICT can be defined as the information of stand alone computers across and between institution , and as general set of tools and skill that can be applied to a wide range of organization . Furthermore, the impact of ICT on education which touches so many parts in our institutional learning today. Students makes use of laptop in their lecture hall in other to enhance their inferential learning . Some source out information on the internet , television , blogs, and social networks for their assignments and projects work. Some individual also meet their spouse on social networking like 2go, facebook, tweeter, yahoo messenger, skype etc for one kind of mutual relationship or partners. Some can end up getting married to the people the meet on social networks.
