The Nigeria communication commission says that the difference in data allowance for Android and BlackBerry user has been in a controversial issue .
The NCC says that internet subscription using BlackBerry users pays less than Android user because blackberry limited utilises a special algorithm to serve its users better.
Blackberry handsets indirectly subsides bandwidth for its users by compressing the downloading content by the subscriber while Android did not compress there downloading contents , this is so because internet surfing on such OS requires more bandwidth .
Whenever a BlackBerry subscriber opens a webpage to browse , a request is sent via the handset's browser requesting for the page to download to the phone ,this request is channeled to blackberry limited's gateway in Canada which will fetch the webpage and compress it for downloading , and so in Android phone the request to open a webpage a request will be sent to the gateway of the network operator which will then process the information and no data will be compress and they will send it back to the handset for downloading .
To resolve the issue the NCC requires the successful implementation of the broadband roadmap of the federal government. The broadband refers to high speed communication network that connect end user at a data transfer speed than 256kbit/s.
