Steve Jobs was an American inventor and
business magnate who had a net worth of $10.2
billion dollars. Steve Jobs was known for being
the co-founder and chief executive officer of
Apple Computers. He previously served as the
chief executive of Pixar Animation Studios. In
the 1980s, Jobs, along with Apple co-founder
Steve Wozniak , Mike Markkula, Ronald Wayne,
and others, designed, developed, and marketed
the Apple II series, one of the first commercially
successful lines of personal computers.
Steve Jobs and Wozniak assembled the first the Apple computer prototypes in Jobs' bedroom and later in Jobs' garage. He then realized the commercial potential of the mouse-driven graphical user interface, which made him to create Macintosh computer.
Jobs acquired the computer graphics division of Lucasfilm Ltd In
1986, which eventually became Pixar Animation
Studios. Jobs remained CEO and majority
shareholder until Walt Disney company acquired
Pixar in 2006. Jobs also serves as a member of
Disney's Board of Directors. Jobs amassed his
fortune through the creation of Apple Inc., and
the ownership of 5.5 million shares of Apple and
138 million shares of Disney stock. On August
24th, 2011 Jobs resigned from Apple
unexpectedly, with most people believing it was
for health reasons. Steve Jobs died of
pancreatic cancer on October 5th 2011 . He has
been replaced by long-time Apple employee and
former Apple COO, Tim Cook .
